Tinta Cao is a Portuguese grape variety first planted in Mudgee in 1984 by Heslop Wines.
Complex aromas of blackberry, chocolate and hints of herbs and spice. It is medium bodied and will complement antipasto through to lamb shanks.
Vintage conditions
Another dry winter and spring before a hot summer. Several timely storms in summer kept things going until harvest. Grapes had intense flavour and ripe tannins.
